We met in high school, but didn't start dating until much later - he had graduated university and I was in my last year. We were friends on Facebook and he messaged me one night asking if he could take me to dinner sometime
Robert was very sneaky about the engagement! I suspected it was coming, but didn't know when or how. We went to my parents' home for dinner, and my dad asked him for help with something. They went downstairs and my mom distracted me while they set everything up. Eventually Robert called me downstairs and he had set up lights, a camera, a projector screen with music and pictures - it was beautiful and perfect!! He asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!
We chose Crear for our wee wedding because we love to travel and Scotland is very special to us both. We didn't want to have a big party at home, so we found Crear on Google and knew instantly that's where we'd get married.
We kept ourselves sane by trying not to have any expectations for our big day. We knew that we'd be together and that we'd be in a gorgeous and amazing place, so it was destined to be perfect!
When it came to the big day, I started to put on my shoes and realized they were two sizes too small! I suppose that's what I get for not trying on my custom ordered Converse ahead of time, haha! I squeezed into them for the ceremony, then walked around barefoot for our pictures - and I only stepped on two or three nettles (we don't have those in America - ouch)!
Being from America, neither of us had ever driven on the left side of the road before! It was pretty scary, but Robert was brilliant at it. One of our tires blew out on our way to Crear, so we had a nice stroll along the highway and through a golf course until our help arrived.
